About the Historian (in training)
Christina Chaffman, writer and creator of Eat Like an American, is an undergraduate history student at UMBC, with a passion for exploring American history
through the lens of food. Her research focuses on the colonial period and the American Revolution, particularly how foodways and domestic life played a crucial
role in shaping the nation’s identity. She is especially interested in how diverse cultural and ethnic traditions contributed to the development of a uniquely
American society and identity. Outside of her academic work, Christina has a love for Halloween and all things witch-related, often diving into early witchcraft
practices and eagerly awaiting the spooky season each year. She lives in Baltimore with her husband, son, three cats, and a dog.
